About University of Perpetual Help System DALTA University Perpetual

Located in Dalta, Las Piñas Philippines, University of Perpetual Help System is a catholic university with campuses in Las pinas, Calamba city, Cavite and Bacoor, Laguna in the Philippines. On 5th Feb 1975, Dr Gen. Antonio Laperal and his wife Dr Daisy Moran Tamayo founded Perpetual help College of Rizal (PCHR). Initially, it offered only a Bachelor of Nursing course with 700 students enrolled. Later in 1995 and 1996 campuses were established in Molina and Calamba, respectively. The Commission of Higher Education(CHED) granted university status to it and in 2017 it gave the university an autonomous status. The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA believes in the principle of “Character Building is Nation Building”. It runs on the ideas of community service, teaching and research.

• During the first year, the class lectures are held mostly through computers with LCD projectors along with laboratory work, film/slide showing and group discussion. Both Bioethics and pedagogy are taken up in Principles of Medicine Practice. Before the biostatistics session, an introduction to medical informatics is given in Preventive and Community Health. Later on, problem-based learning in started in certain topics in Physiology and Biochemistry.
• Small groups of students start meeting patients in the actual hospital where they are initiated to take history and physical examination in the second year.
• Common diseases are seen in clinical practice and interesting or rare conditions are involved in the third year through didactic lectures. Pathophysiology is reviewed while clinical features, diagnostic approaches and principles of management are emphasized.
• Students with 10+2 years of science education background should first enrol in Pre-Medicine course for 1.4 year93 semesters). The fourth-year internship is spent in patient care with Univesity Medical centre serving as the clinical laboratory. For 48 weeks the clerks are rotated through different clinical departments with periodic evaluation. After completing pre-medicine program they will be enrolled in the 4-year medical program.
