Tianjin Medical University’s predecessor was Tianjin Medical College which was established in 1951. It was the first medical institution approved by the State Council after the founding of The People’s Republic of China. The first president of the university was Professor Xianyi Zhu, a renowned endocrinologist and medical educationist.

Library services

The Library of Tianjin Medical University covers an area of 12,200 square meters with about 2000 reading seats. With biology and medicine and hygiene being the principal component, it has a collection of 1,226,600 books, more than 2000 magazines in multiple languages, 21.9T digital resources and 11.7T e-books. Our library offers good reading conditions to our readers in quiet, cozy and bright reading rooms.In 2011, the Ministry of Education set up a science & technology retrieval work station in our library. It was the only medical retrieval work station at the ministerial level among universities in Tianjin.

Tianjin Medical University was established in the year 1994 as a collaboration of two colleges Tianjin Medical College and Tianjin Second Medical College. The first former president of Tianjin Medical University (TMU) was a professor Xianyi ZNU who was renowned as an endocrinologist and medical Educationist. TMU also became “211 Project” national university in the year 1996 and finally developed with the help of national health & family planning commission, People’s Government of Tianjin and ministry of education. In the year 2017, the university got selected for the national development plan of 1st class disciplines.

In order to make the freshmen adapt to the new environment and for safety’s sake, international students at Tianjin Medical University must reside in the International Students’ Building Dormitory for the first academic year. Points for Attention

1. When you check in, please show your passport, passport photocopy and the lodging receipt from the Financial Office. You need to pay CNY 50 deposit to the reception desk to get the room key. No students are allowed to change rooms on their own. In one year, when you check-out to live outside the campus, we will return the deposit to you if no damage is found to the room and its content.
2. Before you live in the International Student Building, you need to sign a lodging agreement with the business center.
3. The International Student Building provides all necessary furniture except bedding. You need to pay for the bedding, such as bed sheets, quilts, cushions and pillows. You can conveniently buy them in the nearby supermarket.
   The other articles of daily use, such as toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, scissors, and notebooks can be bought in the small shops of the university.
4. After your entry of the apartment, you need to take care of your private belongings. Don’t put large amount of cash in the room. You can deposit in Bank of China near the university. When you carry large items out of the apartment, please register with the reception desk.
5. Please strictly obey the management regulations of the apartments.
