Ternopil National Medical University is located in the Ternopil city of Ukraine. It is a government institution which offers MBBS course in various fields. Ternopil National Medical University was founded on 12 April 1957 as a Ternopil Medical Institute. On July 1, 1992, the organization was renamed after Ivan Horbachevsky. It received the status of State Medical Academy on 30 December 1997, and on 17 November 2004, the institution became Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University, after recognition.
University clinic facilities were located in the municipal hospital, at that time and many buildings were being constructed for the betterment of the students and staff. The institute at that time had 19 departments and employed 66 instructors. Like this, the institute developed its faculties and started various programmes, and after Ukraine got its independence in 1991, major changes took place in the betterment of The Ternopil State Medical University Ukraine.
The Ternopil State Medical University got its 4th level of Institutional accreditation in 1994. In 1995 the university added the speciality of Nursing and in 2000 it introduced the faculty of Pharmacy. Till the year 2016, the university offered the following courses.

The university includes 600 professors, among them are 102 Doctors of Science and full professors and 460 associate professors. The staff include two correspondings, 11 merited scientists of Ukraine, 3 merited inventors of Ukraine, 2 merited teachers of Ukraine, and 4 merited doctors of Ukraine. There are approximately 6350 students enrolled in The Ternopil State Medical University out of which 1977 are international students from 53 countries.
Lectures take place in the halls which are well furnished and have world-class equipment of technologies. Clinical training and theoretical education go hand in hand. The clinical training takes place in affiliated hospitals. Mode of language for instructions in English, Ukraine and Russia.
More than 1500 students are studying in Ternopil State Medical University from 53 different countries. The university also collaborates with several foreign institutions and also take part in student exchange programs. Ternopil State Medical University is the first university in Ukraine to acknowledge the Merican Nursing Program and follows the same curriculum.
