Qingdao University is a provisional research institute located in Qingdao, Shandong, China. QingdaoUniversity was initially established in the year 1985.

In the year 1993 the former Qingdao University, Qingdao medic college, Shandong textile engineering college and Qingdao normal college combined to form the present Qingdao University.

The university is recognized as a member of the national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program."

The university serves as the leading educational institute in the area and enrols around 35,000 full-time undergraduate students, 9,800 graduate students, and 1,600 international students at present.

In 1985 the Qingdao University was established by the financial support of central government and academic support of the Nankai University, Tianjin University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Shandong University. The university was organized with the level of 'high-level distinctive university'.
