Founded in 1958, Guangzhou Medical University is a non-profit public higher-education institution

Location
Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) ,formerly known as Guangzhou Medical College, founded in 1958,
is a medical institution which offers a full range of programs at graduate and undergraduate
levels. The main campus of GMU is located in the downtown of Guangzhou City, a stone’s throw away
from Lihue Lake Park and Yuexiu Mountain. A new campus of approximately 247 acres is situated in

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have a good command of English. All the courses are taught in English.
Applicants’ mother tongue or second language must be English, or they should have learned

- The minimum qualification is Senior High School or 10+2 or a level with Physics, Chemistry and
Biology. Applicants must fulfil the percentage of marks required for medical study by the
medical council or government in their respective countries and reach the requirement for

Do I need HSK for a degree program in English?
No, if you are applying for English taught programs, you don’t need to provide HSK
certificate. If you are applying for Chinese taught programs you’ll have to pass HSK.

My son/daughter isn’t 18 yet, can he/she study in China?
Yes, students who are under 18 years old can study in China, but only non-degree programs.
To study non-degree program they have to provide a guardian letter and a guardian’s
ID/passport. The guardian has to be Chinese citizen or a foreigner with work visa in
China.

What is the guarantor statement and why do I need to submit it?
A guarantor is a person who will help you in case of financial or medical emergency. You
