The university has 72 undergraduate majors, covering as many as 8 disciplinary areas (science, engineering, medicine, law, liberal arts, economics, management, and education). There are 6 provincial key disciplines, 5 disciplines administrated by the Chinese government, and 1 key discipline of national defence. 18 Programs are entitled to award Ph. D. degree, 124 MA or M.S. degrees, and 35 professional degrees. The mining engineering, nuclear technology and its application, pathology and pathological physiology, and pharmacology are Hunan provincial key construction disciplines. There are 2 ministerial key laboratories, i.e. the dissolution and mineral laboratory, the coordinating laboratory of the International Radon Calculation Program of IAEA in Asia, 1 provincial key laboratory, i.e. the radon laboratory.
Nuclear science, medical science and environment-related sciences are the three pillar stones of the university.
The university began its international student education in 2011, and there are now more than 50 students from 8 countries, most of them majoring in clinical medicine.
Accommodation
With over 380 rooms and six different room types at South China University of Technology to choose from, you will find a great place on our Wushan Campus. All rooms are fully furnished and include individual bathrooms, internet access ports, telephones, TV (except 1st Floor) and air-conditioning in some rooms. You will also have a fully fitted kitchen, coin-operated laundry facilities, and entertainment room and security service in the dormitory building. All rooms are fully furnished at University Town Campus, including individual bathrooms, internet access ports, telephones and air-conditioning. In addition, there is a notice that Accommodation Reservation Service is not available. The rule is: First Come, First Served. There is Muslim canteen at South China University of Technology. And international students are very satisfied with food cooked at this cafeteria. To work and live in this new environment is never easy in the beginning, with unfamiliar surroundings and even a new culture to explore and navigate. With an aim to help the international students fit into this new community and new culture easier, the school officers have been trying and updating their service for them all the time. In addition, this city is famous for Cantonese cuisine with special and precious flavor. You can have a try. Given the emphasis on the freshness in Guangzhou cuisine, its not surprising that steaming is popular, as this is the least intrusive cooking technique and the healthiest.
