Nantong University
Nantong Medical University was founded by Zhang Jian in 1912, and its predecessor was a private
medical school in Nantong. It is one of the first medical schools in China. In 1927, it was
transformed into Nantong Medical College, and in 1928 it was renamed Nantong University Medical
College consisting of a combination of three agricultural, textile and medical schools. Nantong
University is one of the universities offering the MBBS program approved by the Department of
Education of the People's Republic of China.
Nantong is a comprehensive university formed by the Jiangsu Provincial Government and the country's
Department of Transport. It consists of three campuses, Nantong Medical College, Nantong
Engineering College and Nantong Normal College and has four campuses: a new campus, a Qixiu campus,
a Zhongxiu campus and a Qidong campus.
Enrollment is about 34,000 full-time students, of whom 1550 are graduates and 300 are overseas
students. The university has 84 undergraduate programs based on nine major subjects, namely
literature, science, engineering, medical science, education, economics, law, history, and
administration.
Nantong University is accredited by the MCI (Medical Council of India) and the WHO (World Health
Organization).

Nantong Medical College, based at Nantong Medical Institute, was founded in 1912 by Zhang Jian. It

returned in 1946. reformed by national higher education in 1952, the medical department was renamed
Northern Jiangsu Medical College and renamed Nantong Medical College in 1956. He came under the
joint authority of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and the Jiangsu Provincial Government in 1978.
And since February 2002, it has become a state-run college. COM-NT contains 19 majors, including
Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of
Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Nautical Medicine, Faculty of Radiation, Diagnostic Medicine and
the Faculty of Professional Medical Training. The college has 60 departments, three research
centers, seven affiliated hospitals, and about 70 hospitals and foundations for teaching (clinical
for international students are Chinese Language and Literature, History, International Economy and
Trade, Educational Technology, Administrative Management, Business Administration, Public
Administration, Nursing, Management of Human Resources, Clinical Medicine (taught in English),
Preventive Medicine, Artistic Design, Fine Arts, Music, Education (Education for Primary School).
