Xinjiang Medical College, is a medical university in Ürümqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It was ratified by the National Ministry of Education in 1998 and entitledby Jiang Zemin. The curriculum places a particular emphasis on medicine, management and linguistics, with the university facilitating 25 specialties for undergraduate students and 17 specialties for academic education. Over 50,000 students have been educated at XMU.  In 2010, 13,100 students were enrolled at the university, with 5,405 people employed in teaching positions.

XMU is at the base of Carp Hill in Northeast Ürümqi and consists of a campus that is over 3 million square feet. Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai ordered the Ministry of Health to work with the Soviet Union Ministry of Foreign Affairs to build a new medical centre in Xinjiang city of Dihua (now the city of Ürümqi The decision was based upon instructions provided by Saifuddin Azizi.

XMU was founded by incorporating the Traditional Chinese Medicine College of Xinjiang Medical University with the Xinjiang Medical College. Before incorporation, Xinjiang Medical College was amongst 156 key projects aided by the former Soviet Union during the First Five-Year Planand began recruiting new students in 1956 During its 60 years of existence, XMU has received attention from national and international leaders, including Chinese Communist Party officials and other provincial and urban figures across China. Xinjiang Medical University is a large co- educational higher education institution. The total strength of the university ranges between 15,000 to 20,000.

The university is divided into four campuses namely north campus, Mingyuan campus, and Fangfangg Ou campus. The fourth campus Hema Spring New Summer campus is under construction. The college was merged with Xinjiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine to form Xinjiang Medical University in June 1998. It is located in Urumqi city, the capital of Xinjiang. It is the capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the far northwest of the People's Republic of China Ürümqi was a major hub on the Silk Roadduring China's Tang dynasty and developed its reputation as a leading cultural and commercial center during the Qing dynastyin the 19th century.

Xinjiang medical university admission-

Along with the related documents, students should send their XMU application form for enrollment to XMU’s International Education College (IEC) Training Department.

An Admission notification along with a JW202 Form (Study Visa Application Form) will be sent to the qualified applicant by the XMU’s Admission Office.

Students should apply for the entry visa with the JW202 Form at the Chinese Embassy or the Consulate at their home country.

Following is the registration period:

1. For Undergraduate Students: September 5th-25th
2. For Graduate Students: September 10th – October 10th
3. For Ph.D. Students and Advanced Students: February or October

Eligibility

• They should have Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as the main subjects of study at the 10+2 level.
• The applicant must have a non-china nationality.
• The age of the applicant must be a minimum of 17 years and maximum of 30 years.
• The applicant must have a good track of academic records.
• The student must be fluent in the English language.
• Students must have completed 10+2 of their education or any equivalent education with a minimum 50% aggregate marks.

For overseas students pursuing bachelor, master and Ph.D. degrees in any discipline available on Xinjiang University, the government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region offers a number of scholarships.

Following is the eligibility criteria for the students who want to apply for scholarships:

• Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
• Applicants who wish to apply for scholarships for Ph.D. programs must have a master’s degree and must be under the age of 40.
• Applicants who wish to apply for scholarships for a masters degree must have a bachelor’s degree and must be under the age of 35.
• Applicants who wish to apply for scholarships for bachelor’s degree or undergraduate program must be under the age of 25.

Following documents are necessary to apply for the scholarship programs:

• Foreigner Physical Examination Form
• Application Form.
• Scan copy of the notarized transcript from senior high school. If the transcripts are in languages other than Chinese, English or Russian then they should be translated in one of these three languages and should be attached.
• Scan copy of notarized highest diploma certificate.
• Applicants must send the Study plan in no less than 300 words for the undergraduate program in Chinese or English to the government.
